Transition Expo outlines programs, services for students with disabilities

Students in Grades 8-12 with disabilities and their families are invited to learn more about the options and opportunities available to help them now and after they transition from high school.
"The Transition Expo will offer great information in both English and French about education and training; employment; recreation; advocacy, support; and many other programs and services that are available throughout our community," says Shelley Nelson, community access facilitator with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
"This is a great opportunity to meet with representatives from various government, private and not-for-profit agencies throughout the community who are there to support students with disabilities and their families," she said.
The Transition Expo for students from the Bluefield, Charlottetown Rural and Colonel Gray families of schools is Thursday, Jan. 21, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Colonel Gray High School cafeteria.
Another Transition Expo is slated for Feb. 10 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Montague Regional High School cafeteria. A similar event for western P.E.I. will be scheduled later this school year.

If school is cancelled or dismissed early due to weather conditions in Bluefield, Charlottetown Rural or Colonel Gray family of schools, the Transition Expo will be rescheduled to Jan. 28.
