P.E.I. Rural Beautification Society holds AGM
The annual general meeting of the Prince Edward Island Rural Beautification Society was held recently in Charlottetown.
In addition to reviewing the business affairs of the organization, the society took time to recognize three retiring board members: Reta MacDonald, Lorne Ramsay and Doreen Cole. MacDonald and Ramsay were not in attendance, but a presentation was made to Cole.
“We are extremely grateful for the years of service our organization has received from Reta, Lorne and Doreen” said president Elizabeth MacDonald.
“It is because of these wonderful volunteers that our organization has enjoyed many years of success.”
The nomination report was presented with the following board members approved for 2015-16: honorary patron: P.E.I. Lt.-Gov. Frank Lewis; president - Elizabeth MacDonald, Souris; past president - Janet Cotton, Clinton; vice-president - Sharon McRoberts, Hunter River; treasurer - Ritchie Simpson, Charlottetown; secretary interim - Janet Cotton, Clinton; executive director - Glenn Holmes, Stratford; director - Clayton Bulpitt, Roseneath; advisory board - Betty Aitken, Brackley Beach; Stella Boswall, Marshfield; Curtis Crozier, Kelvin Grove; Helen Dawson, Vernon River; Judy MacDonald, South Rustico; Sheryll Pound, Georgetown; Royalty Judy Shaw, St. Catherines. Judges are: Prince County - Pat Pineau, Howlan; Queens County - George MacKay, Malpeque; Kings County - Carol Jenkins, Stratford
The society is busy finalizing the 2016 competition book.
Printing is expected to be completed by the end of March and books will be circulated to many Island nursery and garden centres, as well as all Access P.E.I. locations.
