Stella Pendergast and Alyssa Koughan are getting ready for the performance Thursday at the Carrefour Theatre.
L'étoile polaire, a theatre troupe of Grade 5 and 6 students from École François Buote in Charlottetown is presenting its first production, "La chasse galerie", a play by teacher and playwright Martin Guyon and based on a French-Canadian legend.
The troupe will take the stage at the Carrefour Theatre on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. for this one-hour production.
"When the troupe realized they had an opportunity to sell tickets to their show and donate the funds to a charity, the kids held a meeting and came to the consensus that their donation would be made to the IWK Foundation," says theatre troupe founder and director J.P. Pendergast.
While the show is aimed at parents and family, it is open to the public and L'étoile polaire is hopeful that interested parties and/or supporters of the IWK will come out to see this delightful French drama.
"The IWK would not be the special place it is today without the incredible generosity of donors," says Lynn Anne Hogan, IWK philanthropy officer.
Funds raised from this event will address the most urgent priority needs of the IWK including advanced technology, research, improved facilities and up-to-date equipment.
Tickets are $5 at the door, cash only, and can be reserved by emailing email@example.com or by calling Daniel Gallant at 902-368-1895, extension 239.
