HALIFAX — The East Coast Music Awards will celebrate its 25th anniversary by handing out hardware to the region’s best acts tonight.
The annual awards gala in Halifax will cap off a weeklong event that attracts musicians from across the region and industry officials from around the globe.
Halifax rockers Wintersleep leads with six nominations, including rock recording of the year for their album Hello Hum.
Matt Mays trails closely with five nods.
Rose Cousins, Radio Radio, Rich Aucoin and Tim Chaisson each have four nominations for the Atlantic Canadian music prize.
The East Coast Music Association formed a quarter century ago in a basement bar in Halifax by a small group of people hoping to draw attention to the region’s musical talent.
