HALIFAX — Singer-songwriter Tim Chaisson has picked up an East Coast Music Award for roots traditional solo recording of the year.
Chaisson received his award during the Roots Room showcase Thursday night at Casino Nova Scotia.
This was the Island artist’s first ever ECMA Award.
Chaisson is nominated for three other ECMAs this weekend, song of the year, for Beat This Heart; video of the year, again for Beat This Heart; and entertainer of the year.
All three of those awards will be presented during the gala awards show Sunday night.
P.E.I. natives Rose Cousins and Jenn Grant were also awarded ECMAs Thursday: Cousins took home the folk recording of the year for her album We Have Made A Spark; and Grant's The Beautiful Wild earned pop recording of the year.
