A prominent Canadian political, business and lifestyle magazine has singled out Avonlea Village in Cavendish as one of the country's one-of-a-kind encounters.
Huffington Post sent its travel writer, Adrian Brijbassi, on a cross-Canada tour last year, touching down in nine of 10 provinces.
His article on that trip appeared on the magazine's website just after Christmas.
Brijbassi splits his trip into different categories. Saskatchewan, for example, falls under 'I'm glad I discovered' while he even identifies the very restaurant where he had his favourite dish.
Avonlea Village is filed under 'tourist attraction that lives up to the hype'.
Brijbassi talks about the fandom surrounding Anne Shirley and how it has become a source of a multimillion-dollar tourism business, too.
"What makes Anne so accessible to so many is her ability — which Montgomery bestowed on her — to connect with the vulnerabilities of childhood and adolescence, an age when fitting in for many often feels like an impossible dream,'' Brijbassi writes.
