Three Island fire departments have joined forces with comedian Jimmy the Janitor to bring his Fight Fire With Comedy tour to P.E.I. to raise funds for much-needed lifesaving equipment.
The Alberton, Kinkora and Eastern Kings fire departments will each host a Fight Fire With Comedy night:
• Jan. 18 at Westisle Composite High School
• Jan. 19 at the Kinkora Kanata Club
• Jan. 26 at the Eastern Kings Community Centre, Munns Road.
All shows feature good clean comedy, with proceeds to the fire departments.
Kinkora Fire Chief Adam Baldwin says the profits from the Kanata Club show will go a long way toward helping his fire department.
“This will be a huge step forward for us in buying some lifesaving equipment, and the Jimmy the Janitor team is to be commended for that.”
Tickets for the show at Westisle High are available at Pat’s Irving (Alberton) and Vinny’s Restaurant (O’Leary). Tickets for the Kinkora Kanata Club show (19 and over) are on sale at the Silver Fox Curling Club in Summerside and the Kinkora Irving. Tickets for the show at the Eastern Kings Community Centre (19 and over) are available at the Souris Credit Union and Elliot’s General Store in Bothwell.
Jimmy the Janitor has been called “the Dean of Dust,” the Squire of the Squeegee, the CEO of CLR, but mostly he has been called on to entertain audiences across the continent for the past 25 years.
His latest CD, 5 Alarm Funny B’y, was just released in November and brings his comedy collection to a total of 11 CDs. His comedy feature, Jimmy Live, is heard daily in 70 radio markets across Canada, and the jovial janitor has appeared on CBC Radio/Television, CTV and the Comedy Network.
