Monday's Guardian had a Charlottetown Digest column noting recent city council activities. Among these was a notice to councillors re their so-called "wish list" for the 2010 budget. "It's time," said Coun. Villard, "to get their priorities ready."

Residents of Sherwood, north of Pine and east of Mount Edward Road, now is the time to approach our councillors re the extension of Spencer Drive from University Avenue through to Mount Edward Road.

Over the summer there must have been times, when travelling from areas east of the mall to University Avenue and to other places west, that it was as frustrating for you as it was for me. The trek was often slow and tedious through the private road, past the theatre and around the mall, with always the danger of striking a theatre-goer, who after all, has the right of way to the parking lot and who is subjected to a steady stream of traffic as they come and go at theatre time.

I know this traffic situation has been brought to David MacDonald's attention and also to Melissa Hilton's and to Cecil Villard's as finance chair without any resulting action. Can we get them to do something?

There have been infrastructure dollars available and hopefully still are. Now is an opportunity to have our needs heard.

An email to the mayor at mayor@city.charlottetown.pe.ca and all councillors at city hall could be instrumental in getting this project on city council's priority list and improving a traffic situation that deserves better.

Sibyl Cutcliffe,

Charlottetown
