The CDP has canceled its last live harness racing program of the season, scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, because of extreme cold conditions.
Eleven cards were on the docket. Live racing resumes at the CDP on April 20.
Meanwhile, the P.E.I. Standardbred Horse Owners Association is gearing up to host qualifying rounds for the $100,000 World Handicapping Championship at the CDP and Summerside Raceway.
Contestants begin qualifying rounds Thursday, Feb. 7 and continue every Thursday until March 28. The winner receives entry to the $100,000 World Handicapping Championship at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey and a qualifying seat in the P.E.I. Poker Challenge at the CDP in June 2013.
Contestants will be required to submit a $10 entry fee each week along with entry forms from three races from the Woodbine harness program.
