KELOWNA, B.C. - Two out-of-province RCMP officers and a Kelowna resident are facing charges of assault after a fight with alleged Hells Angels members outside a Kelowna nightclub in August.
Two off-duty officers - Const. Chris MacDonald, 40, of Prince Edward Island, and Const. Kiel Samotej, 25, of Alberta - and about seven others were involved in the Aug. 7
altercation with 15 to 20 people wearing the colours of the Hells Angels and Throttle Rockers.
The charges come after an alleged assault of an unknown male that involved a "shoulder bump" inside the nightclub, which is believed to have instigated the much larger fight that later took place outside, said RCMP.
MacDonald was treated at Kelowna General Hospital.
RCMP say other members of his group sustained minor injuries.
Charges of assault against both MacDonald and Samotej have been approved.
A charge of assault causing bodily harm has been approved against Kelowna resident Errol Milsom-Gardener, 25.

Thanks for posting the full story, Chelle B. This is typical reporting of the Guardian. I wish we could turn to a new paper for a change with different owners for a real reporting.

From East....you certainly know little of the hells angels with that comment. To become one of those gang members you must show that your living comes from a criminal activity. Gun running, drug trafficking, prostitution, and extortion are only a few of the trades that these fun loving bikers are involved in. Maybe you can get some first hand information if your sister was to date one.

Report ALL The Facts if You're Going To Report On A NEWS Story!

Cops, Bikers face Charges after bar brawl
    Daily Courier Staff
    2010-02-10

Two Mounties and a Kelowna man face assault charges after a nasty dust-up between Gang Members and the off-duty cops outside a downtown Strip Club last summer.
Const. Chris MacDonald of Prince Edward Island and Const. Kiel Samotej of Alberta got into a large Brawl outside Cheetahs Night Club on Lawrence Avenue on Aug. 7, police said. The two men had been inside the Strip Bar when one of them shoulder-bumped an unknown man wearing Hells Angels Colours, the RCMP in Vancouver said on Tuesday.
Investigators said they believe the altercation triggered a melee, which spilled onto the street. As many as 20 men wearing Gang Colours of The Hells Angels and Throttle Lockers were involved in the fight.
Errol Milsom-Gardener, 25, was wearing Throttle Lockers Colours When He allegedly Attacked MacDonald, police said.
The 40-year-old MacDonald underwent treatment at Kelowna General Hospital for numerous injuries. He was held overnight and released the next day. About six of MacDonalds friends were with him at the club. Some of them suffered minor injuries.
The Throttle Lockers are a Puppet Club based out of 100 Mile House. The Gang has Links to the Hells Angels Chapter in Kelowna, WHICH Police believe pulls their strings.
Milsom-Gardener is Charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and is to make his first court appearance in Kelowna on April 8. MacDonald and Samotej are charged with assaulting the Hells Angels member. They appear in a Kelowna courtroom for the first time April 22.
Local RCMP investigated the fight But didnt reveal it to the media last summer. Officers gave circumstances to Crown Prosecutors, who approved the charges last week. MacDonald and Samotej Are On Duty. The RCMP is still conducting an internal code of conduct investigation of the incident.

Not very often the hells Angels are portrayed as victims.

I don't think it takes a big brain to figure out that the mounties were probably fighting for their lives.

The other scenario is that 15 to 20 Hells Angels must have just stood around and passively watched the two mounties pick on their friend.

    You choose.

Thanks for posting the full story, Chelle B. The story as it appears in the Guardian is so truncated it gives an entirely wrong impression by omitting the fact that the other parties were charged, too. VERY irresponsible journalism. We need posters like you apparently to present the complete story.

Sensationalism at its' best. The Guardian makes a habit of story telling versus stating the facts. It would appear that some of the Guardian reporters have a penchance for portraying police officers as always being the villains. Cheap journalism.

    ... they believe...
    ... as many as...
    ... an unknown man...
    ... he allegedly attacked...
    ... numerous injuries...
... about six of MacDonald's friends...
    ... some of them...
    ... minor injuries...
    ... police believe...
Yeeup. Them's the exacting details we needs here to fully grasp the impotence of the issue. It will certainly help the scuttlebutt crowd draw a crowd. Let's hope no one disputes them, which could cause a large Brawl.
Shame on The Guardian of News and Information for barely publishing the fact that an Island-based R.C.M.P. officer is involved in an assault charge stemming from an incident six months ago on the other side of the country.
