Bernard foursome splits two games

STEPHENVILLE, N.L. - Mel Bernard and his rink from the George R. Pearkes Branch in Summerside split two games Monday at the 2010 national legion curling championship.
Bernard, third stone Blair Jay, second stone Doug Simmons and lead Earle Proude take a 2-1 record into today's games against New Brunswick and Quebec.
Monday, Bernard lost his first game to Bob Gallaugher from British Columbia/Yukon 8-5.
Then in the afternoon draw, Bernard scored three in the second end to take a 3-0 lead and stole deuces in the third and fifth ends and a single in the fourth end to cruise to an 8-1 win over Jeff Stewart from Manitoba/
Northwest Ontario.
