MONTAGUE - Scott Annear was at home Sunday afternoon when he got the news.
There was smoke coming from the family trucking business and by the time he reached the operation in Brudenell, the flames were spreading up the back end of the 70 metre structure.
"It's a big loss, but it's business as usual today," he said looking over the smouldering remains of the Morley Annear Trucking business Monday morning. "My phone has been ringing all day with offers of help and it will take some time but we'll rebuild."
Deputy fire marshall Dave Rossiter says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire razed the building that housed three tractor trailers (including a new 2007 rig), payloaders, and other heavy equipment along with the administration offices of the firm. Rough damage estimates are more than $500,000.
"It's just the nature of the business,'' said Rossiter on the scene, "This is a business with oils and fuels, propane and acetylene tanks and lots of other flammables. And there's no hydrant system in Brudenell."
The Sunday fire turned into a giant inferno and sent thick black smoke billowing across and covering the entire town of Montague. No one was hurt and firemen are being praised for saving an adjacent building.

Very sorry to hear the news of Morley Annear trucking. The firemen done a great job saving the appartment in front of the building, they should get a medal for the work they do.
