It was an amazing lifetime experience, says P.E.I.'s only McDonald's restaurant employee to work the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Janelle Dowling, 27, of Stratford worked in the Athletes' Village in Vancouver.
"It's nice to be serving the world's best athletes," she said.
Dowling attended a speed skating race and her personal favourite, hockey, and one of the award ceremonies. Dowling said attending Games events depended on her shifts.
Two hundred McDonald's Champion Crew members stayed at the Cascadia Hotel in Vancouver and 100 others were in Whistler, Dowling said.
She said employees tried to take in as much as they could.
There was always something going on and the hospitality people were good at giving information, she said.
She said there was always a steady flow of athletes and coaches dropping into the McDonald's fast food restaurant.
Dowling had never been on a plane and always wanted to visit British Columbia.
"It's hard to be away from home but this was a lifetime experience."
McDonald's employees from across the country were given the opportunity to work side-by-side with athletes and given tickets to view their favourite games.
Dowling also had the chance to see Vancouver from a plane.
McDonald's employees had a lounge in the Cascadia Hotel.
"They had lots planned for us."
