  • Details : The Canada-wide Yogathon is being held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 in Vanvouver, Calgary, Halifax, Charlottetown, London, Windsor, Montreal, Ottawa, Pembroke, Quebec City, Saskatoon, St. Mathieu Du Parc, Edmonton, and Toronto. The purpose of the event is to create awareness about yoga and interest in its practice for healthier living. The event will challenge participants to complete 108 sun salutations in support of Care for Children. A program of the Art of Living Foundation, Care for Children partners with rural and tribal areas in India to establish schools and other educational infrastructure. Care for Children’s mission is to provide holistic education with an emphasis on social responsibility and human values to children in underserved communities. Proceeds from the Yogathon will support Care for Children.

Railway Day

  • Details : Commemorating the history of the Island Railway, the PEI Museums and Heritage Foundation's annual "Railway Day" will be held in Alberton this year with the support of the Alberton Historical Foundation! There will be guest speakers Dr. Edward MacDonald, Dr. John Cousins and Allan Graham. Live entertainment by the band Country Heart, a BBQ and heritage walking tours are sure to top off the day! There is a playground on site for children and many other activities and sights to see. Admission is free.
