  • Details : The PEI Working Group for a Livable Income is hosting acommunity forum about BASIC INCOME GUARANTEE (BIG) BIG, sometimes known as Guaranteed Annual Income, is a plan that would ensure that individual and family has a decent income. Right now, low wages and inadequate social programs are keeping too many people in poverty. BIG would use the tax system to boost incomes to a livable level. This would bring dignity to peoples’ lives and lead to better health & wellbeing – for individuals and communities. The PEI Working Group for a Livable Income believes that Prince Edward Island would be an excellent home for a basic income guarantee pilot project. The community forum will give people a chance to learn more about BIG, and offer their ideas about how it might work, and why they think it’s important.
