Couple finds love on transit bus
Many things about the wedding of Gloria MacWilliams and Ken MacKenzie are a bit different, but one thing is not and that is the fact they are a very happy couple after the wedding in Victoria Park Saturday afternoon.
The wedding, officiated by Rev. Gordon Matheson, was like any other in most ways except several.
The bride did the proposing, it was carried out on a Charlottetown transit bus and the groom took the bride's name "just to be different.''
Ken MacKenzie, who will now be known as Ken MacWilliams, has been a driver with the transit service for four years and it was while driving his bus he met his future wife.
"About a year ago this lady with a very magnetic smile got on the bus'' and MacWilliams was watching her out of the corner of his eye. After seeing her on the bus numerous times he got up the courage and asked her out to lunch.
They have been dating since the beginning of this year and in the middle of August Gloria "proposed to him just to be different.''
The proposal came when they were at home and not on the bus, she said.
As for honeymoon plans the couple said they were going to "take a 24-hour break from the rest of you" and then take a cycling trip next spring.
This is Gloria's first time tying the knot and the second for her husband.
They are both Charlottetown residents and after the short ceremony the couple took a drive around town in the bus.
