Power was restored just after 3:30 p.m. today for most of the 1,400 Maritime Electric customers in northern and eastern sections of Charlottetown who lost electricity for almost four hours.

Power was knocked out before noon for residents on Sherwood Road, St. Peters Road, Mt. Edward Road and along the arterial highway, including the Sears store.

Crews tried to re-energize power lines earlier in the afternoon but failed in the attempt.

Power remains out at Sears store and the block surrounding the major retail outlet.

Maritime Electric had five crews out trying to find the cause of the outage and to make repairs. It is suspected that trees or branches came down on lines because of high winds.

Im guessing the wind has a lot to do with the power outage. Just a guess.
