Every year employees at Veterans Affairs in Charlottetown open their hearts and their pockets to support the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign.
The funds raised in this campaign support agencies of United Way and Health Partners as well as many other charities.
This year the employees exceeded their record by raising over $175,000, which is $18,000 more than last year. Encouraged to Be a Star in Someone's Life, the employees outshone themselves. The idea was that by contributing to the campaign, employees could Be a Star in Someone's Life as the money raised in the campaign creates hope and changes lives in the community.
The Veterans Affairs campaign is part of the overall P.E.I. GCWCC campaign which includes approximately 20 departments. The campaign is administered by the United Way with donations going to United Way agencies, 16 Health Partners agencies as well as any other registered charity the donor may choose. The total on P.E.I. will be announced in the new year.

How much of the $175,000 raised stays on PEI to fund essential programs?

(The idea was that by contributing to the campaign, employees could Be a Star in Someones Life as the money raised in the campaign creates hope and changes lives in the community.)
