P.E.I.’s housing starts were up in October over the previous month, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).
The latest figures from CMHC show the province’s housing starts in urban areas were trending at 479 units in October compared to 296 in September.
Of those, there were 68 multiple starts in Summerside in October.
“The trend measures for Prince Edward Island’s urban housing starts moved higher in October off an uptick in multiple starts in Summerside,” said Sarena Teakles, market analyst for CMHC’s Atlantic Market Analysis Centre.
CMHC’s trend is a six-month moving average of the monthly seasonally adjusted annual rates of housing starts.
