P.E.I.’s Heather Moyse will be off to the Winter Olympics next month and Islanders will be able to wish her well through a booster fan club which has been set up by Prince Edward Island Potatoes.

Moyse, defending Olympic gold medalist in women’s bobsleigh, is again headed to the Olympic Winter Games to represent Canada and P.E.I.

Moyse and her partner Kaillie Humphries have been setting new track records on the World Cup circuit leading up to the Sochi Games.

Moyse has been P.E.I. Potatoes’ Brand Ambassador since 2011. Sponsorship from the potato industry has helped her to focus on recovery from hip surgery in late 2012, achieve silver medal success with Canada’s Women’s Rugby Sevens team at the Rugby Sevens World Cup in Moscow last summer, and now earn a place on Canada’s Olympic bobsled team.

Everyone who wants to send best wishes to Moyse is invited to visit and click on the Bobsled Booster Fan Club button on the home page. Messages will instantly update to the site and will be available for Moyse to read leading up to her races in Sochi on Feb. 18 and 19.

Visitors to the site are also invited to click on the link for Homegrown Hero Signature Swag. Moyse has signed a limited number of P.E.I. Potatoes promotional items, including aprons, t-shirts, cookbooks and water bottles. Weekly random draws from online entries will be held leading up to races.

While visitors are on the Prince Edward Island Potatoes website they are encouraged to check out ther page on Moyse, including a question and answer section, some of her training videos and her favourite recipe for garlic mashed potatoes which she uses to power her toward bobsled success. It could be a new adventure if Brookvale built a shute for people to experience a version of bobsledding. It might get more teens interested in the sport
