Nate Bruce, 10, of Stratford is wrapped up in the new P.E.I. 2014 apparel line and merchandise developed and produced by Island company Cows.
P.E.I. 2014 merchandise has a foxy flare but also includes items that one might say celebrates the Charlottetown Conference paving the way to Cow-federation.
The new apparel line and merchandise developed and produced by Island company Cows was unveiled Friday at the Cows Creamery in Charlottetown.
A cute, cartoon fox dressed for a big occasion with black top hat and bow tie adorns a number of items like T-shirts, pins and magnets with the caption ‘What does the Fox say? Ring Ding Ding 2014!’’
Mugs, magnets and t-shirts also have a signature COW-lever caption. The image on all these items is of cows sporting black top hats as they strike a pose in front of Province House above the caption “Historic Cows reveling with pride in the Birthplace of Canada.’’
Other items include tuxedo shirts, toques and scarves all with the 2014 logo. A mustache pin and a 150th shot glass may also prove to be popular novelty items.
Plenty of announcements have been made this year to gear up Islanders and tourists alike for a yearlong celebration in 2014.
P.E.I. 2014 Inc. executive director Penny Walsh McGuire hopes all the merchandise will add even more colour to the major event.
“We’re really pleased of course to be working with an Island company,’’ says McGuire.
“Cows is a fantastic brand among Islanders and visitors. So having Islanders sporting the great merchandise maybe over the holidays or into the 2014 celebration year will help promote the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference and get everyone excited about the great year next year.’’
Tourism Minister Robert Henderson adds that the Cows-themed clothing and merchandise will be a fun and colorful way to take part in the 2014 celebrations with a “distinctly Island flare.’’
P.E.I. 2014 clothing and merchandise is now available at all Cows retail outlets and online at www.pei2014.ca/merchandise.
“At COWS, creating quality in a fun way is what we are all about,’’ says Sheela Curley, manager of public relations for Cows.
“This opportunity was a perfect fit for us. We have created a fun line of clothing and merchandise that we think Islanders will be proud of as we celebrate 2014 with all of Canada.
