Meetings & Conventions P.E.I. (MCPEI) hosted its annual member trade show this week in the habourview rooms at the new Prince Edward Island Convention Centre in Charlottetown.
The trade show kicked off the annual Local Champion Campaign. The purpose of the trade show was to educate local potential clients on the services available should they host a meeting or convention on P.E.I.
The Meetings & Conventions P.E.I. member trade show is the Island’s only tradeshow for the convention and special events industries.
“For over 12 years local planners have made this a must-attend show,” says Michael Matthews, executive director for the organization.
“Invitees come from our database, and this year we had over 180 in attendance with 22 of the organization’s member exhibiting. The Spooktacular Halloween theme was also a hit with planners and members alike.”
Jo-Ann Thomsen, business development director at M&C P.E.I., says its important that locals know the organization can assist with everything from proposals, to site inspections, to providing planning insights.
“We are here to assist during the entire process. And, most importantly, that they know our services are complimentary. “
During the month of November and December the staff from Meetings & Conventions P.E.I. will hit the road across Prince Edward Island in order to create awareness of M&C P.E.I. local champion opportunities and to encourage local meeting champions to step forward.
Meetings held on P.E.I. on average generate over $20 million dollars annually to the local economy and local champions are responsible for over 50 per cent of these.
People can become a local champion by contacting Meetings & Conventions P.E.I. at 902.368.3688 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
