Stantec’s Charlottetown office joined with other company employees this week is celebrating Stantec in the Community Day, a day of worldwide volunteerism across the design firm.
More than 4,000 Stantec employees volunteered at community organizations in Canada, the United States, Barbados, the UK, the UAE and India. In Charlottetown, seven team members helped out at the Upper Room Soup Kitchen.
“This day of volunteering will not only further support Stantec’s commitment to community, it will bring our team members together to make a coordinated, local impact,” says Stantec president and chief executive officer Bob Gomes.
“Our employees have been serving their communities for decades, but bringing them together on one day like this just emphasizes what a difference we can make.”
Some examples of Stantec in the Community Day events around the world include:
— In New York City, 50 volunteers removed invasive species and spruced up Riverside Park on the Upper East Side of Manhattan;
— In Ottawa, ON, 73 team members painted cabins, cleared brush and helped rejuvenate Camp Smitty, a summer camp for underprivileged boys and girls;
Stantec in the Community Day is part of the celebrations for Stantec’s newly unveiled brand, including a new logo, visual identity, and web site.
“Our promise at Stantec is to design with community in mind,” says Gomes. “What better way to underscore that promise than to get out into our local communities and roll up our sleeves? We’re inspired by the communities in which we live and the impact our work has on them.”
