The Prince Edward Island Brewing Company has announced that two of its beers are available in Alberta, beginning this week.

Sobeys Liquor will be offering Gahan Ales and Beach Chair Lager in 39 of its Alberta stores.

“We are very pleased to announce that P.E.I. beer has arrived in western Canada,” said Jeff Squires, president of the P.E.I. Brewing Company. “We are working with Thirsty Cellar Imports, a highly regarded sales agency in Calgary to represent our brands in the Province of Alberta."

Marlene Howard, president of Thirsty Cellar Imports, says she is excited about the opportunity.

“We have been looking for a quality line of craft beer to add to our portfolio," she explained. “Gahan Ales and Beach Chair Lager are the perfect fit. They are handcrafted, premium quality, and they are made in P.E.I. – all attributes that Albertans value.

"We also know that there are many Maritimers currently working in our region. They will be happy to see a great Maritime beer available in Alberta.”

The P.E.I. Brewing Company and Thirsty Cellar Imports is running a contest in Alberta during the month of August that will see the winner and guest flown to Prince Edward Island for an all-expenses-paid "Island dream vacation". The winner will receive complimentary return airfare from Edmonton or Calgary to Charlottetown, free accommodations, meals, and golf during their stay. The contest is available to Albertans of legal drinking age only.

Good for the PEI Brewing Company. I hope their brew sells well off-Island. It is good they are expanding their markets, especially into wealthy areas of Canada. The more beer they sell off-Island, the more money will be coming into our Island economy. It also means that the millions of dollars in loans that we as taxpayers have provided this company will be paid back, with interest. We need more businesses that export to other areas, but still maintain their head office in this province.

Actually, what we need is for the government to stop giving low interest loans to it's chosen few, it ensures continued success for some, and skews the real market. i am sure private investors, or financial institutions would be willing to put up their money.

Now, let's just sit back and wait for all the negative and moronic comments from the idiots who are so envious of the Murphys it hurts so they have to try to make themselves feel better by mocking and attacking the family. As if the Murphys care what those clowns say.

But we won't have to wait for the people quick to defend the Murphy's! Right, Piet? Gahan beers are okay...beach chair tastes like water though.
