Metro Credit Union Ltd. has again received top honours with a ranking of No.1 among Best Places to Work 2013 in Atlantic Canada.
This is the second year in a row the credit union has achieved the top rating in a program designed by Progress magazine and Best Companies Group to recognize the best employers in the Atlantic region.
The credit union received the award at a special luncheon in Halifax this week.
“We are honoured to be recognized as No. 1 in this exclusive group of employers in Atlantic Canada,” says Bernard Gillis, general manager of Metro Credit Union.
“Those of us in the financial services industry are in an extremely competitive business, and it’s our employees that set us apart. They are our greatest asset, and we couldn’t have achieved this distinction without their dedication, professionalism, and passion for the job. We are particularly pleased to achieve the No. 1 ranking two years in a row.”
To be considered for this award, Metro Credit Union participated in a thorough workplace assessment by their staff, including such core areas as corporate culture and communications, work environment, pay and benefits and overall engagement.
All staff were required to complete the survey, but their individual responses were anonymous. Metro Credit Union received the complete results of the survey, providing an opportunity to go through it with staff and solicit feedback.
This is the third year Metro participated in the survey, ranking No. 17 in the first year.
Metro Credit Union Ltd. was incorporated in 1968 in Charlottetown. With assets of $197 million and 40 staff, the operation also has a branch office in Stratford.
