The Prince Edward Island Brewing Company says its flagship brand, Beach Chair Lager, will now be available in New Brunswick.

“Our fans in New Brunswick have been asking for Beach Chair Lager since we launched it last summer in P.E.I.,” says Jeff Squires, president of the P.E.I. Brewing Company.

“We applied for a listing last year, and we are pleased to announce that the New Brunswick Liquor Commission has responded. We want to thank all New Brunswickers for their patience and their support.”

Beach Chair Lager was the top-selling brand for the P.E.I. Brewing Company last season and has the distinction of being the first canned craft beer ever brewed in Atlantic Canada.

Brian Watson, a global brewer and beer judge based in New Zealand, describes Beach Chair Lager as “a crisp, refreshing, hand-crafted lager that combines Canadian Pilsner malt and the subtle spicy aroma of noble hops — a truly enjoyable craft lager experience.”

The Prince Edward Island Brewing Company is expanding operations in Charlottetown to meet the growing national demand for its product line.

“We are opening a world-class brewery at 96 Kensington Road in Charlottetown in May of 2013,” says Squires. “We look forward to brewing more great beer for the Canadian marketplace and hosting visitors at our exciting new location this spring.”

Nice try Piet Hein. Your attempt at sarcasim is laughable. The issue raised was why do Islanders have to pay for this expansion. There is no money for almost every thing needed on the Island but they can always come up with a couple of million dollars for a select few.If they are successful, good for them, but let them do it on their own dime.End of conversation!

I cannot fathom why these guys chose to the lager to introduce themselves to the rest of Canada...it is by far, the worst beer they make. Anybody who likes cream of corn should love the lager, because thats what it tastes like. The ironhorse brown and the IPA are terrific...why not market those first?

Why are we financing this? Have we not lost enough money in the beer business? I have a hundred buck saying they'll be gone, out of business with our money in 5 years. That's usually the plan.

William White, in case you have not noticed the brewery has been in business for more than five years by just selling to Islanders. Before that it was in a restaurant so why don't you think that expansion won't work. You have the typical disease from which many Islanders suffer - envy of people who are successful. You think since you have failed at everything you have tried then everyone must be a failure.

Would love to see it shipped out to Edmonton, Alberta. There is a store "Wine and Beyond", has over 1800 craft beers available from all over the world but doesn't have ANY beer/lagers from PEI. Would love to see Gahan beers offered out here as well, huge "untapped" market here.

If you are so successful, why do you have to borrow the money from Islanders. Why would you not go to your bank? Oh right, we are your bank of choice.
