KINKORA — Tracy Gaudet has been freelancing, helping authors research, self-publish and promote their books online for years.

Now with the opening of her new company, Inspire Planning, she will offer authors and small business owners support and consultation on a variety of business-related topics from how to grow an online presence to how to self-publish a book and many things in between.

Gaudet’s goal as a virtual assistant is to free up time for her clients so they can spend energy on their revenue generating activities such as running their business or writing.

She accomplishes this by helping with time-consuming tasks such as building social media followings, helping business owners with large projects as well as helping authors with the huge task of self-publishing and book promotion.

There has been a big spike in self-publishing in recent years. In October 2012, Bowker (leading provider of bibliographic information) released data that self-published books accounted for 43 per cent of all books published in the U.S.

Living in a small town in Canada doesn’t stop Gaudet from helping writers and business owners across Canada and the U.S.

“I love being able to help clients, and really make a difference for them from so far away,” said Gaudet. “It is amazing with technology how easy it is to communicate and collaborate with others that are time zones away.”

While Inspire Planning is a new company, Gaudet has been doing freelance work for years and cites her dedication to a client’s project as her main driving factor.

“I really get into a project once I start and become invested in the success of the project so much that it fuels me to work smarter and harder every day.”
