The 16th annual awards gala is scheduled for May 30 in Charlottetown

The board of governors for the Junior Achievement P.E.I. Business Hall of Fame has announced the appointment of James (Jim) Gormley as board chair for a two-year term.

He succeeds Bruce Howatt who completed his two-year term in 2012.

Gormley has been an active member of the board for the past number of years and says he is looking forward to his term as chairman.

He graduated from Dalhousie University with an LL.B. in 1989 after earnring a BA from UPEI in 1986. He was admitted to the P.E.I. bar in 1990 and was named Queens Counsel in 2007.

Gormley is a member of the Law Society of P.E.I., Canadian Bar Association, and practice group leader in heath care at Stewart McKelvey, from 2008-2010.

He was a managing partner in the Charlottetown office of Stewart McKelvey from 2007-2008,vice-president, Canadian Bar Insurance Association, Board of Directors, and chair, Health Law Section, Canadian Bar Association, Prince Edward Island Branch.

The JA P.E.I. Business Hall of Fame was established in 1998 to provide an economic link between the province’s economic heritage and the promise of a prosperous future by honoring key Island business people.

The 16th annual awards gala is scheduled for May 30 in Charlottetown and is the major fundraiser for JA on Prince Edward Island.
