MONCTON — Charlottetown chartered accountants Fitzpatrick & Company was ranked the fourth fastest growing company in the Atlantic region for the second year in a row when Progress Magazine released its 2012 list of Atlantic Canada’s fastest growing companies.
The annual list released earlier this month highlights companies who have achieved tremendous growth in the Atlantic region.
“Being recognized on this list is very humbling” says Gerard Fitzpatrick, FCA, TEP and partner of Fitzpatrick & Company.
“We are very thankful for all the support the Prince Edward Island business community and our clients have shown us. They have made this success possible.”
What makes Fitzpatrick & Company unique is that they are the first father and son accounting firm to operate in Prince Edward Island.
“Being a father and son firm creates certain challenges, but it ultimately allows us to provide our clients with a valuable range of ideas due to the differences in our practical and generational experiences,” said Gerard.
Fitzpatrick is a longtime member in the accounting community on Prince Edward Island. He has been in practice for 35 years and was a founder of two successful accounting firms in the province.
His son Michael returned to P.E.I. after practicing in the Assurance division of KPMG, an international accounting firm, in Calgary and Halifax.
“Practicing in other areas of the country allowed me to see how companies operate in other economic climates,” says Michael Fitzpatrick, CA partner. ”This experience has better prepared me to assist our clients by looking at their operations through a different lens, which enables me to provide them with much better advice.”
“We attribute our growth to our culture. We have attempted to create a culture where the client is most important and their needs come first.”
Fitzpatrick & Company opened their offices on St. Peters Road in Charlottetown in June of 2008.

Hold on now WAYNE. If this company has been in business for over 35 years how is it the fastest growing company? I mean, Irving and Sobey must be in there somewhere.
