Tom Nicholls and Vacationland RV Park have been recognized as one of the top 100 RV parks in North America.
Vacationland RV Park is a privately owned RV park located in Brackley Beach. It received a 29*/30 rating from the Good Sam Club “Triple Rating System.” Vacationland received a 9.5/10 for their facilities, a 10*/10 for their restrooms, and a 9.5/10 for visual appeal. The 10* rating indicates an outstanding rating for cleanliness.
Nicholls says Vacationland is one of six parks in Canada to make the Good Sam list, and the only park from Prince Edward Island on the list. He said to receive this rating Vacationland must maintain the highest level of commitment to quality standards.
“We continually re-invest in the park, and I have the best staff that anyone could ask for.”
Tourism and Culture Minister Robert Vessey says maintaining high standards is essential to the success of the tourism industry because it ensures that visitors will return year after year.
“Campgrounds and RV parks are a growing accommodation sector on the Island, and we are pleased to have seen a 14 per cent increase in site-nights sold since 2006,” he said.
There are 1,700 RV parks and campgrounds affiliated with the Good Sam organization. These RV parks have to meet a minimum standard of services and appearance to be considered for association and they are inspected annually by Good Sam representatives.
Four Island RV parks were listed in the Trailer Life Directory list of Top 300+ RV parks and campgrounds, due to having near perfect scores. Cavendish KOA and Twin Shores Camping Area both received scores of 28.5. Cornwall KOA and Marco Polo Land Inc. both received scores of 28.
