OTTAWA Our fallen comrade, Colonel Geoff Parker of the Royal Canadian Regiment, working at Land Force Central Area Headquarters, based in Toronto, Ontario, returns home to Canada today

Where: 8 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Ontario.

When: Friday, May 21, 2010 at 2 p.m.

Present to pay their respects will be Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michalle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, Minister of National Defence, The Honourable Peter MacKay, Chief of the Defence Staff, General Walt Natynczyk and other dignitaries.

I feel saddened by yet again another soldier taken in his prime by an unseen enemy. These men have paid the price in the first 5 months of 2010 May they Rest in Peace.

First name Last name Rank Unit Province Date of incident

Geoff Parker Colonel Royal Canadian Regiment Ontario May 18, 2010

Kevin McKay Private 1st Battalion, Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry Ontario May 13, 2010

Craig Blake Petty Officer 2nd Class Fleet Diving Unit (Atlantic) Ontario May 3, 2010

These men plus the additional 138 men and women killed in Afghanistan since 2001 are the cost to Canadian Families, who love honour and respect their men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces.

No Family BBQ, No Family chatter, No fishing with the Kids or friends. These men have paid the ultimate price and will always be remembered by Canadians as Brave men and women who take on the duty of a Thankless Task.

Admirably, professionally and with no hesitation to do their duty day after day, these men and women are fine outstanding Canadians.

A holiday weekend that will remain in the minds of the family of Col parker forever. May his family find comfort in the words that people have about their husband and dad. God bless and protect them. May they feel in their hearts the love emanating from the Canadians along the Highway of Heroes.
