Haiti Pride in Canada

MND returns from Haiti Her excellency our Governor General arives for a two day visit to this earthquake ravaged island.

Gov. Gen. Michalle Jean arrived in Haiti Monday morning for a two-day visit that will take her through some of the communities shattered by the Jan. 12 earthquake that killed 200,000 people and left millions homeless.

Jean, who was born in Haiti, arrived in the island nation around 8 a.m. local time.

On her blog, Jean said she has no illusions about what shell find when she arrives in Haiti.

I dread all the things I need to absorb, to bear and to encounter, Jean wrote in a blog item posted Sunday, a few hours before her departure.

The Governor General was greeted at the airport by President Rene Preval, who will escort Jean on a visit to the presidential palace, which was badly damaged in the quake.

Canada continues to be in the fore front of this humantarian programme. The HMCS Athabaskan is still assisting off shore, our Medics are still preserving lives, Well Done Canada

Minister Peter MacKay also visited our troops in Haiti and was justly proud of our contribution to the relief of Haiti and Haitians,

As aid efforts and rebuilding continues our troops in Afghanistan prepare for a major battle with insurgents, the Spring Offensive as they say.

On the 8 May, 1945 the Allied forces formally accept the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany.Thus ending Adolf Hitlers Third Reich over Nazi Germany and ending World War ll.

In order to commemorate the 65 anniversary of this historic event the Royal Canadian Legion Charlottetown Branch will host a dinner to honour our branch members who served during this historic period.

The schedule for the evening is:

6:30 PM Meet Greet

7: 00 PM Dinner Menu, May God look after our troops where ever they may be serving

Appetizer, Roast Turkey, desert, tea or coffee

8:00 PM Entertainment

9:00 PM Music

Members $25:00 Couple

Non-Members $30:00/couple

Tickets may be purchased at the Bar or Call The Legion Charlottetown

    Where did Robby's last posting at www.theguardian.pe.ca/index.cfm?sid=331336&sc=110 go?

    The one where he says implies the government should forget about the Afghan detainee issue. I can't find it.
