Military Blog Site - with Robby McRobb Blog

K9 Blogger sends a great story, plus a marvellous Link

This first blog is from: Cyber Pup for all those K9's serving their countries.

LONDON - A 9-year-old black Labrador named Treo is being decorated for his work sniffing out explosives in Afghanistan.

He is being given Britain's Dickin medal, awarded for bravery and commitment in wartime. It's the highest military honour an animal can get. It has been presented to 63 animals since its inception in 1943 - including 32 World War II carrier pigeons, three horses and a cat.

While patrolling with soldiers in 2008, Treo helped uncover Taliban explosives hidden by the side of a path.

Sgt Dave Heyhoe his handler described Treo as a four-legged metal detector and a very good friend of mine.

While we are on the line of good stories I ask you to copy and paste this link I received from a Veteran in Alberta Rex. It is a great description of Canada which includes our Veterans and troops.

I for one am a very proud Canadian when it comes to our Military and Police services. Our soldiers sailors and airmen are highly professional and well respected around the globe. Our RCMP and city police from across Canada do us proud in Haiti Afghanistan and other parts of the world.

In the Olympic Mode I feel that Canadian Soldiers deserve this:

The Gold Medal for defending Canada and the world, Freedom and Democracy

Aide Memoir from Debbie of Charlottetown:

If you want to get out and meet other military members and their families, Charlene is holding the 6th Annual Bingo Fun-Draiser on Sat 27 Feb at HMCS Queen Charlotte in Charlottetown starting at 7:00 PM. Come out and meet me, Charlene and a lot of other people who support the troops.

Remember our Troops with a smile and the wearing of Red on Fridays. May God protect them one and all.
