This week there will be a short Documentary on the National Monday night covering Canada's DART team in Haiti.
Friday on Global a documentary live from the HMCS Fredericton stationed of Somalia on anti piracy watch.
These video broadcasts will allow us to see the work that our troops are involved with.
This is a positive action by our media, and I for one will be watching.
In an interview over the weekend Iggie had this to say with regard to the Afghanistan mission.
OTTAWA -- Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff pledged a get tough approach on federal aid to Afghanistan on Tuesday, saying taxpayer dollars are going to a government who stole an election.
He said Canadians deserve assurances their tax dollars are not being spent on corrupt officials, crooks, warlords and AK-47 weapons.
Mr. Ignatieff said that if he is elected prime minister and the government of Hamid Karzai doesn't clean up its act, he would shift aid away from the Afghan state to non-government development and humanitarian organizations in Afghanistan.
I guess that Iggy nor his aides read the press, this has been in the forefront of all the NATO countries no one wants the funding to bank warlords and the cowardly taliban.
As our troops carry on with their dangerous duties the flaks with the Liberals are far behind in the actuality of what is happening on the ground.
If they would put more thought and actions towards our military at home and abroad then and only then may he ever dream of being Prime Minister. That position takes men of courage with Canada in their heart and soul. Not a part time Canadian.
Laurence Cannon our elected foreign minister has stated unequivocally that Canada would not participate in any funding for talks with the taliban. This is Canada's policy and I am sure it is fully in line with Canadian thoughts on this matter.
I read this letter to an editor and I feel that it shows the point of negotiation with taliban leaders.
Re: Taliban Talks Already Started, Jan. 29.
I am utterly amazed that Hamid Karzai, et al., have entered into negotiations with the Taliban in Afghanistan. It is simply not credible to believe that anything agreed to by this backward, repressive and violent terrorist group will be abided by once some sort of treaty is signed. The Taliban will use a so-called treaty as a hudna (a brief cessation in fighting) during which time they can prepare for their next attack.
If the West wishes to withdraw from Afghanistan, so be it. But to negotiate with terrorists is not only an oxymoron, but is also tantamount to an admission of defeat in the eyes of the terrorists.
So I send this message to all of our troops. Stay Safe and continue making Canada Proud of you. Do not listen to Iggie or people of that ilk. your fellow Canadians believe in you, and Thank you for your professionalism.
