Starting with Canada's police serving in Afghanistan, Haiti etc. The sadness of two funerals laying to rest Superintendant Coates and Sgt Gallagher of the UN RCMP Unit in Haiti. This is indeed a sad reminder that our police face danger wherever ,they may be serving. May they Rest in Peace.
My good Friend REX a former Green Monster and veteran sends this Great Link with reagard to our Military Mission in Haiti. Thanks Rex

Then from Afghanistan: Afghanistan looking to burnish image of police officers, going after crooked cops.
This article reminded me of my days in Azerbaijan in the early 90's. I was at a meet and greet in the British Embassy. Speaking with a senior customs official who was in Baku to re establish law and order in the area of Ship and airport customs. He said the first thing they do is tell the officers to have their pockets sewn shut. This to give them less access to cash bribes and or Corruption. I have often wondered if it worked. Now our Canadian Police are trying to cut corruption and the corrupt from the Afghan Police service. Good for them Hope it works.
The Good news story in my mind this week was the Delivery of a Haitian baby in Jacmel by Canadian Medics. The proud mother and father named the baby after the two medics. Again well done Canada.
I was also happy to see that PM Harper did not agree with a fund to bribe the Taliban with Dollars as a peace gesture. Well done PM that would only have been throwing good money after bad.
The story of Omar Khadir still gets coverage. This time our Supreme Court said Canada should not be ordered to return him to Canada.:The Supreme Court of Canada ruled Friday that Ottawa violated Omar Khadr's rights, but is not required to seek the repatriation of the youngest detainee held by the United States at Guantanamo.
The unanimous decision overturned a lower court ruling ordering the Canadian government to ask the United States to return Khadr to Canada.
The Khadr family has gained global notoriety for apparent long-standing ties to al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.
Omar's late father, Ahmed Said Khadr, was a purported extremist and financier for bin Laden's terror network. A brother, Abdul Karim, was paralysed by wounds suffered in the firefight that killed his father.
Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff said the question is not whether one likes Omar Khadr.
The fact is he's a Canadian citizen and we believe his rights ought to be protected, Ignatieff said.
The court respects the independence of the executive branch but I think the court is clearly saying to the government: 'Bring Omar Khadr home.' And we agree with them.
So as Iggy defends a captured boy combatant , the world still turns.
