Another sad story for all Canadians to be aware of, write your MP, write your MLA and ask why this young man was not treated with honesty and respect. If our opposition paid more attention to the plight of Canadians serving their country, and less time on Afghan detainees perhaps funding would be available for after care. This is a long story from The Toronto Star well worth your reading and commenting. C
DiManno: This soldier died fighting the system Pte. Bayliss isn't listed as an Afghan combat casualty. Maybe he should be. Rosie DiManno reports on the tragic life of a wounded veteran who felt abandoned by Canada's military. Such a sad story that a young Canadian would go through the stresses and strains of combat and be forgotten upon his return.
QUESTION: I would like an answer from anyone within the DND that may tell me why???? At 1330 Local Ontario time today I was on the tarmac at Ottawa airport as my flight was rerouted; As we taxied in past the AMU 2 Canadian flags were on either side of the entrance Tarmac side. 2 additional flags were on the road outside the AMU. NONE of these were at Half Mast or Half Staff whichever term you prefer.
Even though the flag draped caskets of 4 soldiers and a journalist were enroute and due to land in Trenton at 1400(L).
