The sadness of a family is heavy as their loved one is returned to CFB Trenton. The highway of Heroes will be lined again with steadfast Canucks from all walks of life paying tribute to Lt. Justin Boyes. As well as to his wife , son, mother, father and brother.
Alanna Boyles speaks out. The widow of the latest Canadian soldier to die in Kandahar put aside her grief for a few minutes to pay tribute to her husband and to share his concern that Canadians are losing support for the mission in Afghanistan.
Lt. Justin Boyes, 26, who grew up in Saskatoon, was killed Wednesday in an explosion while leading a foot patrol only 10 days into his second tour of duty.
Alanna Boyes said her husband was a selfless, loving, courageous man who was a wonderful father to their three-year-old son.
Recently he told her he was worried that some Canadians are undermining the military's efforts in the ravaged country.
Justin and I believe in the mission in Afghanistan, she said Thursday.
One of the things that frustrated him was the lack of support from the Canadian citizens he lived to protect. He said recently, 'we're not losing this war, but if we do, it's because we lost it at home first', she said.
Please support our boys. They are making progress.
May Lt.Boyes RIP at the right hand of God and watch over his brothers in arms still carrying out the mission. May his wife and son always be proud of him.
Members of the Saskatchewan legislature paid tribute to Lt. Justin Garret Boyes, who was killed Wednesday while on patrol in Afghanistan.
I attach a you tube link with a song by Ginny McIlmoyes a fine Canadian singer and songwriter. Sent to me by Ed Oursien of NB.
Boyes, 26, was raised in Saskatoon. His military career took him to the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based in Edmonton.
Saskatchewan's premier, Brad Wall, spoke Thursday morning about Boyes's sacrifice.
Because of what Justin did and what others are prepared to do and have done in Afghanistan, there are no more camps there that trade in terror, there are fewer threats to our families to our country for those who name Canada as an enemy, Wall said.
Justin's purchase for us is security and safety and freedom.
Boyes is the 10th soldier with roots in Saskatchewan to die while serving in Afghanistan.
The attached YouTube video is of Ginny McIlmoyle. The song was written by a local writer and a production company saw Ginny perform it on a show in Warkworth and got everyone together to do this video. Please pass on to your email friends...it is a great song and video shot in Belleville at the Armories with footage from re-patriotations at CFB Trenton.
