The arrival of Chinooks six months ago has been a Godsend to our troops and other NATO allies. Operating 24/7 They haul troops and equipment to forward areas.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - There was a time getting from Kandahar Airfield to any of the forward operating bases in the war-torn region was a hazardous situation. Convoys loaded with fresh troops and supplies were the lifeblood of remote outposts and a constant and easy target of attacks by the Taliban. But six Canadian Chinooks that began flying back in February have changed that.
Maj. Darryl Adams, who is wrapping up his tour as a Chinook pilot, said each day is a busy one. He said in recent weeks his helicopter has been moving about 200 Canadian and American troops per day as well as much needed supplies. Adam's commanding officer estimates the Chinooks have moved close to 10 thousand soldiers and equipment in the past six months - all in relative safety.
24/7 men and equipment make their way to outlying posts, thanks to the skill and professionalism of Chinook Crews.
Artillery and Afghan soldiers also move via Chinooks.
