I received this request yesterday. I did some research and ended up writing the War Museum in Ottawa to see if we can help this reader in his quest: The BW photo is of a section of Gordon Highlanders in France 1915 My grandfather kneeling on the left with plate in hand. Pte George Rae
Rob: I picked up this Medal/keepsake/whatever. At a CoinShop In Sydney NS. While posted to CFS Sydney in the RCAF about 1964. Anyway: I was wondering if you or any of the readers of your blog can help can tell me some History Of it. No one seems to know of it`s existance. Other than a guess by Mr Stevens the Owner of the Coinshop. Who by the way was the main person involved in finding a Colonial French payship off Louisburg at the time. and retrieving its treasures. He told me it may be an American medal struck by Americans who served in the Canadian Army.?? I will insert a photo Front and Back. Any help would be a positive, Because I dont have a clue what it is. Ray Mahar. Char`Town, PE (902) 892-5697
