Military Blog Site - with Robby McRobb Blog

2009 Via rail looks after our troops, our Veterans and their families again.

Via rail once again offered free travel for serving members of the armed forces and a 50% reduction for family members. This offer also includes veterans and their families. Last year I took advantage of the offer and travelled across our broad land from Moncton to Victoria BC, That was a journey of learning and visiting old friends and comrades that I had not seen in 45-50 years. This year i just took the trip Moncton to Ottawa. On this journey talking with a few vets and a few regular force passengers. What a pleasant surprise to run into 2 ladies who flew on 437 Sqn, as I did. Hours passed swiftly as we traded stories and caught up on other peoples lives after the military. Judy Penny and Heather MacLeod were the two ladies(affectionately known as Flight Bags. Thanks to the ladies for a most enjoyable trip.

Flight Attendant and Flight Steward wings.

One of the many things discussed with regard to our troops in far flung places. We would like to see Canada post institute FREE mail services to CFPO addresses. Captain Terry Hunter of PEI is an advocate of this plan. I remember in the 60's and 70's while I was serving there used to be free fold over airmail letters for troops. Perhaps they can reinstate this method of postage again.

I am happy to see the response to the US wanting Canada to stay beyond 2011. So far the government is sticking to their guns with a closing date of 2011.

Todays Blog is coming to you from our Nations Capitol, good old Ottawa.

Today is Red Friday lets all show our support for Canada's heroes our troops.Wear something Red to work or play. Thankyou.
