Is the Media becoming apathetic, about coverage ?

I am a self confessed NEWSAHOLIC. I peruse CBC, CTV, Canadian press, BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera to name a few sources. I watched the news channels yesterday on the repatriation of Pte. Peloquin Canada's latest casualty. Other than CITY News of Toronto which broadcast the repatriation as a lead story. Both CBC and CTV had this repatriation as a 30 second Byte, after H1N1, Harper economics, an obese British Girl who lost a lot of weight.(Great for her) but hardly a better topic than covering the repat of one of our own. Who paid the ultimate price in the Service of Canada.

Is Canada's media becoming blase to our fallen. I certainly hope not. I do wish that in the interests of Canadians, Veterans and Serving Soldiers that when these tragedies occur, they belong in the first minutes of a broadcast. As both a sign of respect and for the memory of another Canadian lost. As well as showing public respect for the families and loved ones grieving with their own personal loss.

Thats my opinon anyway for what it is worth.

Please show support for our troops and plan on attending the next Red Rally in Charlottetown. 26 June 09. Lets see a SEA of Red showing support.

    Rob,

Have to agree with you on this one.How are the Canadian people supose to give support to the troops when they here about a death a full day later.Mind you that's all the media is covering right now for the CF.You only hear from the media when there is a death.
Now, when there is french troops on tour the media does not report anything but a death( there is NO support in Quebec).Maybe if the Fed Gov let the media do some reporting the public would find out what is going on over there and what the troops really think!
The first tour I when on I was always told don't talk to the media.Sadly, this still goes on today. They tell us to send the reporters to a public affiars officer
who gives them a standard responce.
The reporters over there want to know what's really go on but it's are on brass that's stoping them on reporting.
Thus , this is only thing(death) they will be reporting on.Pretty hard to get support for A unpoular war if the public only hear about is death. This starts at the top. They are the ones that are not supporting the troops. It's from within!

    RIP PTE
