A fine memorial from the Worlds Worst Terrorist attack.

May they always be remembered ! !

I say this humbly no one except the Americans can create such a wonderful memorial for the people who died in the WTC atrocity on 9-11.This photo articlewas sent to me by Rex a dedicated reader and former Green Monster. thanks Rex and may everyone enjoy this tribute.

Here SHE is, the USS New York, made from the World Trade Center!

It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center .

It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft. Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite, LA to cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, 'those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence,' recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. 'It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.

Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the 'hair on my neck stood up.' 'It had a big meaning to it for all of us,' he said. 'They knocked us down. They can't keep us down. We're going to be back. The ship's motto?

'Never Forget'

A big Bravo Zulu to our neighbours and allies in the USA.

NATO has requested yet another ship to combat piracy of Somalia.I feel certain it is because of the interception record of HMCS Winnipeg currently in the Gulf of Aden.

Another Veteran of Afghanistan Prince Harry visited NYC this week and spoke with families of people killed in the WTC atrocity.

Prince Harry bowed his head in prayer at Ground Zero Friday, then toured the Sept. 11, 2001, site and shook New Yorkers' hands in his first official visit to the United States a trip paid for by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

Big question when is this supposed to be finished? the 24-year-old prince asked two officials showing him rebuilding plans of the World Trade Center site.

The younger son of Prince Charles and the late Princess of Wales, he is third in line to the British throne.

The prince laid a wreath of peonies and yellow and white roses at a spot on the site overlooking the 9/11 memorial under construction, then bowed his head for several minutes.

Attached to the wreath was his handwritten note, reading In respectful memory of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and in admiration of the courage shown by the people of this great city on that day. It was signed, Harry.

As you enjoy your weekend BBQ's, fishing, playing with the Kids. Take a moment to reflect on our troops in dangerous areas of our world. Serving you, Serving Canada and the Free World.
