Canadians doing their Duty, Makes me PROUD.

HMCS Winnipeg has been hard at work of the coast of Somalia. Successfully intercepting three separate Pirate incursions. This task is very important. As we all read the latest news , 2 US Crewed ships having been hijacked in a week. NATO has a heavy presence in the area currently. Bravo Zulu Winnipeg crew. Canadians on duty on the High Seas.

Afghanistan our troops are conducting more missions by helicopter, travelling by air reduces the risks of IED's along the dusty roads. Canadians on Duty in a hard enviroment.

Veteran Steven Dixon on Day 10 of his hungers strike. This proud Canadian is trying to tell his story nationally. It is a sad fact that a Canadian Veteran must take such extreme steps. The fact that PTSD is a serious problem within the Veterans Community, is growing with more and more of our younger Veterans returning from Afghanistan. The mental health of all Canadians, and indeed the military is a priority. Our Government gives Millions to others but forgets about our own. A fully dedicated military and veterans hospital is required again in Canada, NDMC, Sunnybrook long gone with the blessings of various Governments trying to save some money.

Yet another Canadian on Duty, this time in the harsh reality of Canadian politics.

Canadians of all ilks are doing their duty whether in the military, retired or in their civilian job. It makes me PROUD to be a Canadian.

PLease say a prayer and show your support for our troops and veterans.

Steven good on you. You are not alone as we vets here in UK suffer from the same ignorance of we who served.
A defence minister has berated senior colleagues at the Department of Health for failing to provide services to armed forces veterans.
The dispute flared after veterans minister Kevan Jones attacked health ministers for not doing enough for troops suffering traumas caused by combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.
His remarks came after the Department of Health launched its New Horizons strategy to improve mental health services.
The strategy will promote mother and toddler groups, school health initiatives, older people's lunch clubs and community arts projects, but there is no mention of veterans' groups.
Speaking to The Independent, Mr Jones said: This makes me very angry. As veterans minister I have raised this directly with the Department of Health. The fact that they don't appear to listen to veterans is not acceptable and I will be taking this up directly with the minister responsible.
