Global Currents...Breaking Ranks

Global Television produces well documented current events shows. This edition once again hosted by Kevin Newman was well done.. Except for the fact that it was one sided.

A Vietnam Draft Dodger who came to Canada in the 60s and is now a Lawyer is fighting for the rights? of deserters? Why, must we ask ourselves again and again, why these men joined their countries military, took an oath and signed on the proverbial dotted line. Then they decided for personal reasons to walk away from their obligations to both their country and themselves.

It is still a shock to me personally after so many years that former Prime Minister Trudeau's open invitation to then Draft Dodgers should be used today. These cowardly men are not dodging the draft. they are volunteers in the Land of the Free who chose the military option in their lives. This is the link to the Global Currents programme simply cut and paste if it does not link. It is well worth watching.

However remember that Canada has 108 reasons not to allow these men sanctuary. Jobs, welfare, medical etc should be the right of Canadians and those who immigrate legally. If one of our soldiers ran off to the USA and sought asylum , he would be returned by the military police as a deserter. I feel we have no reason to think any of our brave young Canadians would do such a thing. Canadians honour their obligations.

Why the Government is wasting time, Money and resources is mind boggling. Return these men soonest to our allies and be done with it.

These are my personal opinions not the words of this newspaper.

Please support our troops. Prayers and thoughts are always welcome.

    One sided thoughts

Robby, you're ideas are also one-sided as well. Things change in a person life from one minute to the next, a birth, a death, an illness, etc, however it takes more than one minute to get out of the military I'm sure, I think in Canada its 30 days. So if these people had to run because enough time was not permited to release then why should be threw them back to the US. You don't know their reasons for running, nor do I, so they should be given the resources to help themselves explain their situation. br br You should also watch the movie Stop Loss, an American move showing young men wanting to get out of the American army after many tours only to be denied that option and be ordered back overseas for yet another tour.
