A Grim Milestone 3 Canadian soldiers killed by IED Blast. UPDATE

Update ....The Grim Reaper strikes again

Three Killed 2 Wounded in separate IED attacks. All members of the Royal Canadian Regiment out of Petawawa.

Another devastating day in Afghanistan for Canada and Canadian Families. Three soldiers killed by an IED as they travelled west of Kandahar city. Brig-General Denis Thompson Commander Canadian Group Kandahar released 2 names of the Infantry men who were killed. Cpl Mark Robert McLaren and Pte Demetrios Diplaros of the RCR. Warrant Officer Robert Wilson.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper expressed his condolences to the families of the three soldiers, while he was attending a pre-scheduled event in Petawawa Friday, the soldiers' home base.

As your prime minister, I want to express my condolences to the family and friends of these three brave soldiers, he said. But I have to tell you I never feel able to put the depths of my feelings at times like this into adequate words.

These are very special people who have put their lives on the line in the service of their fellow human being and in devotion to their country.

Prayers and condolences to the friends, loved ones and the brothers in arms of these fine Royals

Warrant Officer Robert Wilson RIP

Cpl Mark Robert McLaren RIP

Private Demetrios Diplaros RIP

This brings Canada's total loss of life to 100 military, plus one Canadian diplomat.

Our Canadian Army is small, we have less standing soldiers than the number of men and women in the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force. The Intense stress on our soldiers ( with some having as many as three tours of Afghanistan in a 3 year period) is unbelievable. Yet our military still soldiers on, believing in the mission. This alone is one primary reason that Canada does not need a coalition government led by the 3 amigoes. We need a strong Government with a strong leader to back up our troops and their allies.

My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of our three brave soldiers. These members of Canada's invisible Army will have even less to enjoy as this Christmas season is upon us.

May the Lord keep these 3 soldiers safe in his arms and in heaven.

Farewell my brothers and Thankyou for your service at the cost of paying the ultimate price.

I pray for peace for the families and for all the support in the world to help shoulder the tremendous load they now have to carry. I was at the predeployment brief last night. I could not help but reflect how the focus, services and support have improved so much since I joined in '83 till now.
