A Minority Government is bad for the military. At at a time like this we need a Strong Government. Now the spectre of a coalition being formed by the 3 minor parties hangs over us. I do realise that the economy is important. However the lives and care of our troops is very high on the list of things that are important to Canada and Canadians.
In a recent survey about the Canadian military 61% of those surveyed agreed that what our troops are doing Globally is very important. At this time in Canada's history there is an unprecedented use of our troops. Not since Korea have we had such a large number of soldiers sailors and airmen serving in one country. The role of the military has changed in many ways and in Afghanistan we are seeing more of a humanitarian effort. The reconstruction of schools, roads, potable water and clinics are all part of Canada's aid to the civil powers in Afghanistan. Unfortunately the strikes by fanatical insurgents are disrupting this process as Canada and her NATO Allies try to rebuild a society from the ground up.
So to our elected members in Ottawa get your act together quit squabbling over pennies and never disregard our troops and their families. Our Silent Army
As Canadians prepare to celebrate Christmas despite the lack of a strong serving parliament. Many Santa parades have been held throughout the land. In Kandahar they have also got the Christmas spirit, despite being far away from loved ones.
