The commander of Canada's Battle Group in Afghanistan says a recent operation into a Taliban safe area has rattled the insurgents and disrupted their supply of weapons and medical equipment. Operation Aray was a combined operation involving Canadian troops, a Battle group of British Marine commandoes and forces from the Afghan National Army. It was centred around the village of Nakonay, southwest of Kandahar City and was meant to disrupt and dislocate the insurgents who had used the area for staging attacks against Canadian and other NATO forces. During the operation, the Canadians discovered a large cache of Taliban weapons and medical supplies, including dozens of homemade explosives, mines, mortars, an 82-millimetre recoilless rifle which is capable of taking out an armored vehicle, as well as what appeared to be a full Taliban infirmary.

Master Corrporal Brent Nolasco and Sapper Kevin Brown from 2nd Canadian Engineering Regiment prepare explosives for blowing up a Taliban bomb making factory. The home-made explosives were found inside a grape growing hut and the Canadians used that material to destroy the building

The brave demolitions men of the Canadian Engineers, have been clearing explosives since WW 1 or earlier as pioneers.

The final result. taliban weapons cache destroyed.

May all our prayers and wishes protect all of our brave military men and women. No matter where they are serving Land, Sea or Air. With a special prayer for justice for M/Cpl Robbie Fraser of Cornwall PEI.
