Canada bears the brunt of another Taliban attack. God Bless Our Soldiers

3 Canadian soldiers on patrol in Afghanistan killed by IED, 1 injured but Stable.

The three soldiers were combat engineers with 12 Field Squadron, 1 Combat Engineer Regiment based out of Edmonton. While in Kandahar, they were attached to the Second Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Battle Group.

Sgt. Shawn Eades, 33. a veteran soldier. He was respected by his subordinates, peers and superiors for his outstanding professionalism and his operational experience and his competence,

Eades, who grew up in Hamilton, Ont., and joined the military at 18, was on his third tour in Afghanistan.

Interviewed before departing for the country in 2005, he told CBC News: We are just raring to go. We've been basically building up to this point for the last 3 months. We just want to get going, get working on our job and come home.

Lisa Eades told the Canadian Press that it was her husband's dream to help people by serving in the military and that he believed strongly in the Afghanistan mission.

Still, she said it was hard for him to leave his family, especially his two daughters, Breanna, 7, and Nyia, 4.

He loved his girls and it was very hard for him to go away, she said when reached in Edmonton.

Eades and the other two slain soldiers were part of a tight-knit crew of combat engineers who were en route to a site to survey a route for use in a future operation, said Thompson.

Cpt. Dustin Roy Robert Joseph Wasden was one of three Canadian soldiers killed Wednesday

Wasden, interviewed by CBC News in June 2007, acknowledged that risks are part of a soldier's job. At the time, he had just learned of the deaths of three of his comrades overseas, but he said that wouldn't deter him from leaving on his own upcoming tour in Afghanistan.

It's part of the job, it's what you do. It's one of the things that's a risk when you sign up, he said at the time.

Sapper Stephan John Stock was one of the Canadians killed on a dangerous strip of Afghan highway.

This has been a tragic fortnight for members of ISAF, 3 Polish Soldiers Killed , 10 French Killed, three female aid workers 2 Canadian and an American woman. As well as M/Cpl Doyle of the Pats who was laid to rest today in Alberta..

I would like to share a letter from a very good friend also a retired military man with a number of UN and Nato missions under his belt Ed: says Good Buddy............ Saddened to learn that three more Canadians were killed in Afghanistan and a fourth is in serious but stable condition. It was a roadside bomb that took out their vehicle. The three were Engineers from 12 Field Squadron, 1 Combat Engineer Regiment based in Edmonton and attached to 2 PPCLI. These three, the ten French soldiers killed just the other day and the civilian aid workers last week is making this a very costly endeavour. When will it end? The Taliban appear to be escalating their offensive and the best efforts of the men and women in the multi-national force are not slowing them down. I don't know what the answer is...... pull out and let the Afghans sink or swim on their own or stay and pay the butchers bill. Like it or not it seems as though we have our own Viet Nam. My heart goes out to the loved ones left behind and my thoughts are with those still in the field. So once again in sadness we send our condolensces and prayers to the Loved Ones, friends and brothers in arms of our soldiers who have paid the ultimate price.

God Bless them one and all.

For the love of heaven, when will harper wise up and bring our soldiers home. It is useless to continue. Too many young men being killed, and for what? Young men that could have contributed so much to our own country
