Thoughts on Life and work in Canada

Having mentioned my cross Canada trip by train in a previous Blog. I sit here at 0430 that is 430am just reflecting before heading out to work. Here in Canada it must be said we are a nation of compliant peoples overall. I know that as I drive the Trans Canada this early am, that no suicide attacks are going to take place. As i travelled across Canada last month I could not help but notice our lack of visual security at all the train stations along the route. Todays CBC report on that violent attack on a greyhound bus asks why? there is not more security on Buses.

Well as a Canadian I feel proud that Canada is still safe enough to allow freedom of travel. There are many many countries where travel is not only restricted but forbidden and in some cases extremely dangerous. Take a look at our southern neighbours since that awful day 9/11. Travel access is now slow to say the least, borders are becoming more difficult to cross on the whole. Yet our Canada is still as free as it was in 1867. We should be proud of that fact.

We should also be proud that as peacekeepers and as a NATO member, we are respected around the Globe.

Today as you sit reading your paper, planning a family day or just relaxing think of our men and women who are currently giving their all in protecting our freedoms. That is Military, Police,RCMP Firefighters and the Myriad of people behind the uniforms.

Yes in Canada we are indeed Blessed as a free people.

Please think of all those men and women working to keep us free.
