I must admit I am completely Shocked and baffled about the lack of Coverage in our National or Local CBC media. I heard on Friday of last week a 30 second sound bite on the Island morning news of the CBC that 15 Engineers had just returned from Afghanistan. They landed in Moncton NB and were all from the maritimes.I searched the internet all w/e and again this am. No story of these brave engineers return nor of the redeployment of more engineers. The new troops are from other provinces. They will carry on the work started by the returning Engineers. They were rebulding a road as part of the re construction team. These men were working for a better Afghanistan despite the threats of IED's and the taliban.
I would like them to know that as a canadian I am proud of them and CBC remember you are a publically funded operation and as such all canadians need to know about their Loved ones and Military Personnel serving and returning from the trouble spots of the world.
On the plus side of CBC please check out cbc.ca and look for RUSSELL D. STORRING: A Soldier's Life Preparing for a 3rd tour of Afghanistan Biography
Russell Storring is a sergeant with the Canadian Army, and has been a signals operator for the 16 years he has been in the military. He returned from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan in December 2005, having served there previously in 2003, and is currently scheduled to return to Afghanistan in May 2008. He also served with the UN in Rwanda in 1994. His columns give a first-person account from the field on the life of a soldier.
This is a good read from the words of one of our serving soldiers.
Please Remember our troops and wear red On Friday.
